چکیده

Microarray data from this article have been deposited with the NIH GEO Data Base under accession number GSE15147 ABSTRACT Understanding complex genotype-by-environment interactions (GEI) is crucial for understanding phenotypic variation. An important factor often overlooked in GEI studies is time. We measured the contribution of GEI to expression variation in 4 non-laboratory S. cerevisiae strains responding gene expression compared to the average yeast gene, whereas genes restricted to transient GEI did not. We propose that transient GEI during the transition between environments provides a previously unappreciated source of expression variation, particularly for essential genes.

Transient genotype-by-environment interactions following environmental shock provide a source of expression variation for essential genes.

Understanding complex genotype-by-environment interactions (GEIs) is crucial for understanding phenotypic variation. An important factor often overlooked in GEI studies is time. We measured the contribution of GEIs to expression variation in four nonlaboratory Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains responding dynamically to a 25 degrees -37 degrees heat shock. GEI was a major force explaining express...

Phenotypic plasticity and genotype by environment interaction for olfactory behavior in Drosophila melanogaster.

Genotype by environment interactions (GEI) play a major part in shaping the genetic architecture of quantitative traits and are confounding factors in genetic studies, for example, in attempts to associate genetic variation with disease susceptibility. It is generally not known what proportion of phenotypic variation is due to GEI and how many and which genes contribute to GEI. Behaviors are co...

P30: Are There Anxious Genes?

Anxiety comprises many clinical descriptions and phenotypes. A genetic predisposition to anxiety is undoubted; however, the nature and extent of that contribution is still unclear. Extensive genetic studies of the serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) transporter (5-HTT) gene have revealed how variation in gene expression can be correlated with anxiety phenotypes. Complete genome-wide linkage s...

Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes entering the VBNC state during the frozen storage and the expression of its pathogenic genes Materials and Methods: Bacteria in 106 Colony counts of in mid log phase were inoculated into three Culture medium including Normal Saline (NS), BHI Broth and Fish Broth (FB) and kept at -18ºCfor...

The genomic determinants of genotype × environment interactions in gene expression.

Predicting phenotype from genotype is greatly complicated by the polygenic nature of most traits and by the complex interactions between phenotype and the environment. Here, we review recent whole-genome approaches to understand the underlying principles, mechanisms, and evolutionary impacts of genotype × environment (G×E) interactions, defined as genotype-specific phenotypic responses to diffe...
